Are you thinking about hiring a minibus?
At Aspland Self Drive, we’re often asked whether a customer can legally drive a minibus. Therefore, we thought we’d write this handy blog post to help you once and for all.
To even think about driving a minibus, you will need a driving license.
If you do not own a license, we will be unable to offer you a minibus on a self drive basis. You can legally drive a minibus within the UK as long as you meet the following conditions:
✓ You’re aged 21 years or older
✓ You’ve held a category B license for at least 2 years
✓ You will NOT use the vehicle to make a profit
✓ You were able to drive before 1st January 1997
Obviously, these are only rough guidelines. Please do not take this as gospel, as there are many other elements to consider. However, these are the main restrictions.
There are number of ways you can check your eligibility.
First, visit the GOV.UK website. They have a specific page on driving a minibus , which goes into more detail about the criteria you must meet and how to obtain a license.
Alternatively, you can speak to a member of the Aspland Self Drive team. We are a family run business and have been established for over 40 years in the heart of Norwich. Therefore, we are very knowledgeable in our field and will happy to offer any help or advice.
Our wide and conclusive range of minibuses are available to for hire across East Anglia from just £69 per day, making it extremely affordable for any hiring occasion.
